I disagree. The time when England was so close to winning the World Cup, and Beckham missed the penalty, I just sort of shrugged and said 'oh well' after an initial 'oooohhhh... that was bad'. To be fair, the last day's was the only one I watched because my family was all over it.
My brother, on the other hand, went absolutely APESHIT. (Beat the door to his room down so badly, it had to be covered with a big industrial sign XD) As did the papers the next day, to which I facepalmed. It's one thing to have pride in one's country's team, but it's another to get stupid about it and act like it defines one's every breath.
